Hello there - I'm adding this review following the purchase of a Totalcool evaporative cooler in May 2025 and it's use of in a small campervan throughout the summer of 2025.
Back in early May 2025 I found myself browsing online for a suitable unit to lower the already stifling late-spring temperatures inside my old coachbuilt '93 Citröen.
Up to that time, I had been unaware of the availability of relatively uncomplicated & very portable 12v evaporative coolers. I was familiar with the principles of evaporative cooling after living in a property in Australia that had a 'whole house' evaporative cooling systemv- and that had been specifically chosen by the house's architect in preference to air conditioning - refrigerated air. On moving into the house in 2006 I was initially sceptical - thinking that evaporative systems were a poor relation to state-of-the-art split system a/cs.
With temperatures hitting as much as 48 degrees C, by the end of my first full antipodean summer I was a convert to evaporative cooling.
An abundance of fresh cool airstreams that don't require internal spaces to be sealed up tight and will lower ambient air temperatures significantly - a typical figure of a 10 degrees C reduction -and this with a gentle increase in humidity that made the hottest, driest days noticeably more comfortable.
The cherry on top was the difference in running costs between these two types of cooling system. Even in a modern guise, with their hard working ompressors, refrigerated air A/C units can be energy hungry appliances. A typical domestic evaporative system requires only a small water pump and a fan.
The idea of retro-fitting engine or roof mounted A/C to the old Citröen was a complete non-starter and only briefly considered whilst absent mindedly browsing Temu one day.
I discovered TOTALCOOL and some of their van-life / surf culture products on eBay. After reading the description and specification, the cooler unit seemed ideal for my application:

At £299.00 the list price was a stretch for my inner Mr.Scrooge but what price a bit of comfort on those hot August nights ? I then clicked onto TOTALCOOL's website and found an 'as new' 'Return' appliance on offer at £100 under list. Deal!
TOTALCOOL use FedEx - my experience with FedEx in connection with this was superlative. I missed home delivery twice and FedEx held the package for me at their depot for way over the stated 5 day limit.
Day to day operation was found to be
excellent and the appliance does the job it was made to do. Once the Citroen's interior reached a comfortable temperature, the unit could be backed off to fan setting 1 & quieter background operation. Mechanically blown air always comes with some noise - in cost/benefit terms, a little fan noise on a hot day is an acceptable compromise.
I did try some essential oil but must have overdone the number of tea tree drops as the Citroen's interior took on the air of an aromatherapy boot camp.
Cleaned & tucked away for the winter but ready for a hot 2026!

Alles bestens! Herr Trampe hat uns super beraten und die Umsetzung war im Anschluss auch erstklassig. Ich würd nie etwas selbst einbauen, geschweige denn etwas am Fahrzeug ausschneiden. Top Kombinationspreis und schnelle Ausführung. Weiter so!
Top Qualität, hatte das Fenster mit Montage gekauft.

Wunderbar hat alles geklappt. Super Elektroflitzer. Abwicklung mit der Montage war unkompliziert und bestens organisiert.
